How to Choose a Laser Engraver for Wood Carving
For hobby and home use, diode lasers (5–40W) are cost-effective. They work well for soft woods like pine and basswood, suitable for engraving and thin cutting. For industrial or batch production, CO₂ lasers (40–100W) are better, with stronger cutting ability for hardwood and thick wood boards.
Power selection: 5–20W for surface engraving; 20–40W for cutting 3–8mm wood; 50W+ for thick wood over 10mm. Choose a working area based on your projects, and ensure high precision for fine patterns.
Prioritize machines with good cooling systems and safety features: fully enclosed structure, emergency stop, smoke exhaust and protective windows. For DIY, pick a 10–20W air-cooled diode model; for professional use, choose a 40–60W water-cooled CO₂ machine.
